Diversity

At Chesterton we are committed to the promotion of diversity and equality in everything we do. We aim to create a fair and just school community that promotes social inclusion, community cohesion and equality, that respects diversity and which challenges and acts upon all forms of discrimination and inequality, including bullying.

Chesterton works actively to celebrate difference and challenge racism, sexism, homophobia and all other forms of prejudice

The school takes positive action to promote racial harmony and to promote positive attitudes towards life in a multicultural and multi-ethnic and multi-faith school, through assemblies, the curriculum, extra-curricular and special projects throughout the year.

There is a continuous focus to ensure that all students have equal opportunities to achieve to the best of their ability regardless of their gender, ethnic or racial background, religion, ability or sexuality.

We actively promote the British Values of tolerance, fairness, respect for other faiths, and the rule of law and democracy.

Chesterton is delighted to hold the Rainbow Flag Award

The Rainbow Flag Award is a national quality assurance framework for primary schools, secondary schools, SEND schools and colleges. The award focuses on positive LGBT+, (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, plus other related identities), inclusion and visibility.

The Rainbow Flag Award encourages a whole organisation approach to LGBT+ inclusion, as well as developing strategies to effectively challenge and combat LGBTphobic* bullying.

  • Supportive parents & governors

Chesterton Pride Club

Chesterton Pride Club (CPC) is Chesterton’s in-school LGBTQI+ network. We meet weekly. Pride Club is a safe space where students can come and meet others, make friends, talk openly and enjoy being themselves.

We watch films, draw, chat, listen to music and plan important events based around the LGBTQ+ calendar.

Pride Club is open to EVERYONE, regardless of identity, whether or not you are ‘out’ and to LGBTQI+ students as well as allies.

We are always open to new members and students do not need to disclose anything about themselves, they can just turn up and be.
