Sabina Begum

Senior Administrator

When did you leave Chesterton Community College?

I left Chesterton Community College in 2012.

What is your current job title or field?

I’m currently a Senior Administrator.

Did you know as a teenager which career you wanted to pursue or did you come to realise this later on?

I always knew I wanted to do something in the field of Administration. I always found it fascinating how receptionists at GP surgeries would have several tasks to do and how quick and efficiently they would do them.

How did you start on your career?

When I finished Chesterton, I went to CRC and studied Business Administration. As part of my course, I had to do a one-day work experience every week to see what it is like working in the Admin field. My college tutor advised me to get in contact with my secondary school Chesterton and see if they would take me on. I then started to do my work experience in 2013.

I then went on to doing an Apprenticeship in Customer Service which I did full time at Chesterton as a Receptionist until 2014, after which I was taken on permanently. I am still here and worked in many fields across the College.

What do you like about your job? High points?

I mostly enjoy the work that I do mainly with excel, word and using different types of apps. The staff are lovely and very enjoyable to work with. Some tasks are very difficult and demanding but it is challenging to be able to do them.

What is the first advice you would give a student wanting to follow in this direction?

I would say there is nothing stopping you from doing what you want to do. If you put your mind to it, then you can accomplish anything.

Working in the Admin field is very chilled and yet important.
