When did you leave Chesterton Community College?
I left CCC in 2018.
What is your current job title or field?
I’m currently an English teacher here at Chesterton.
Did you know as a teenager which career you wanted to pursue or did you come to realise this later on?
I always knew I wanted to be a teacher! However, when I got to Year 10, my love of English Literature sort of flourished and my English teacher actually inspired me to pursue a career in secondary school English teaching.
How did you start on your career?
I went to Long Road, and then Anglia Ruskin to do a degree in English Literature. Then last year I completed my secondary school training with Cambridge Training Schools Network and now here I am!
What do you like about your job? High points?
I love being able to share my passion about literature all day, every day, and seeing the students also enjoy learning this. I really enjoy the students and how much they make me laugh too!
What is the first advice you would give a student wanting to follow in this direction?
Ignore anyone who tells you not to! It truly is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world! Although it is hard and demanding at times, there is really no feeling like the joys you get from teaching.
